Dry Needling

About our Dry Needling Services

Dry needling is a safe and minimally invasive technique that targets muscle tissue at a deeper level than traditional manual therapies. By inserting a fine, sterile needle directly into trigger points or areas of muscular tension, we create a controlled microtrauma that stimulates the body’s natural healing process.

This microtrauma increases blood flow, reduces inflammation, and helps “reset” the muscle. Essentially, dry needling helps move the body out of a chronic healing phase—where the body is stuck maintaining old injuries—and back into an acute healing phase, where active repair and recovery can happen. The result? Less pain, more mobility, and faster healing.

Why It Works

When you’re stuck in a chronic healing cycle, your body may no longer be truly healing—just adapting and compensating. Dry needling reactivates the healing response, increases circulation, and promotes tissue repair at the muscular level.

What to Expect

  • Treatment sessions are typically brief and tailored to your needs.
  • Some muscle soreness is common post-treatment and usually resolves within 24–48 hours.
  • Most patients notice an improvement in mobility and a reduction in pain shortly after treatment

Whether you’re dealing with chronic pain, acute injury, or movement limitations, dry needling can be a powerful tool in your healing journey.

A Helpful Analogy:

Imagine a thirsty horse standing on one side of a canyon, and the water it needs is on the other side. With massage and other surface-level techniques, it’s like splashing water across the canyon—maybe the horse gets a little wet or even a small sip, but it’s not truly effective.

Dry needling, on the other hand, is like building a bridge. It allows the therapist to get closer to the root of the issue—helping guide the horse directly to the water. It brings the treatment to the exact area that needs attention, rather than hoping the surface techniques make it across.

Acupuncture vs Dry Needling

The major difference between acupuncture and dry needling is in the reason of using the needles. Acupuncturists believe insertion of needles will balance the flow of positive and negativ energy (Yin & Yang), whereas dry needling aims to achieve specific neurophysicolgical effects.
